Motuara Island

Motuara Island is a bush clad bird sanctuary – home of the real South Island Saddleback. As you stroll the track with our knowledgeable guide, you hear the chorus of a thousand birds and enjoy the company of native pigeons, bellbirds, blue penguins and cheeky robins. The Motuara walk takes you to the top of the island for truly spectacular views of the Sounds and Cook Strait right across to the North Island.

All of our Eco tours begin with a scenic cruise through the majestic Marlborough Sounds among the dolphins, seals, and see birds that call this place home. Dolphin Watch Eco tours is fully licensed by New Zealand’s Department of Conservation and is the only major daily operator allowed to actively search for dolphins and seals. We will find them for you or they will find us.

Along the way, you will witness conservation research in action – a role that has won our company national recognition and numerous environmental awards.
